MCP for BudgetSyncer subscribers
ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor can read your sync status, bank transactions, and YNAB budget through BudgetSyncer. The tools are read-only, and they only see your account.
When did Nordea last sync, and what booked on the salary account this week?
Nordea last synced successfully yesterday morning. No error on that connection.
Three booked payments on the salary account this week: rent, the electricity bill, and a grocery card payment. Nothing is pending.
BudgetSyncer already brings eligible European bank transactions into YNAB. A follow-up still sends you elsewhere: the bank app for a card payment, YNAB for a category, and BudgetSyncer when last night's sync failed. MCP answers those from ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor.
Last successful sync, the last attempt, and errors, for each connection and linked account.
Booked and pending transactions for one linked account, fetched from the bank when you ask about the bank itself.
Budgets, accounts, categories, and transactions on the YNAB budget you connected. Budget questions use YNAB, not a second copy of the bank feed.
Same account you already use for sync. The assistant never gets a bank password.
Sign up, connect YNAB, and start a free trial before you authorize a bank and map accounts. MCP uses that same subscription. An inactive account cannot create keys or call tools.
In ChatGPT, add a custom MCP server, paste the URL below, and choose OAuth. In Cursor or Claude Desktop, create an API key and send it as a Bearer token.
Ask when a bank last synced, what booked on one linked account, or what a YNAB category shows. The assistant lists your connections before it fetches a specific account.
Paste this URL as a custom MCP server and sign in with your BudgetSyncer account when asked. The setup page copies the URL for the site you are on.

Open MCP setupCreate a key, name it after the app, and copy the secret when it appears. It is shown once. Revoke it from the same page if you stop using that client.
Bank authorization stays the PSD2 consent you already gave. MCP reads the connection you saved. It does not store your online banking password.
Yes. Creating a key and calling MCP tools uses the same active trial or paid subscription as bank sync. Sign up, connect YNAB, and start the trial before you authorize a bank.
No. BudgetSyncer MCP is read-only. It can report sync status, list your linked banks, fetch bank transactions, and read YNAB budgets, accounts, categories, and transactions. It cannot create transactions, edit categories, or start a payment.
Only the signed-in subscriber. Each tool runs as that account. Linked accounts are listed with a masked IBAN. The assistant is told to load your connections before it asks for a specific account.
ChatGPT connects with OAuth. You paste the MCP URL, choose OAuth, and sign in with BudgetSyncer. Cursor, Claude Desktop, and other clients that accept a header use an API key. You create the key on the setup page, copy the secret once, and send it as a Bearer token.
