Privacy Policy

BudgetSyncer has the highest respect for your privacy, and your information will be handled in a safe, secure and confidential manner. All transactions are handled encrypted and not shared with any third party partners. We only store the necessary data to access your bank accounts and YNAB budget. Upon request you will receive all your data. We will only store data as long as you are subscribed to our product.

YNAB API data

When you connect YNAB, you authorize BudgetSyncer through YNAB's OAuth process. We never see or store your YNAB password.

What we access: budget and account information needed to show your YNAB setup, and permission to create or update transactions in the YNAB accounts you choose during setup.

How we use it: only to import bank transactions into your selected YNAB accounts. We do not use YNAB data for advertising, resale, or unrelated features.

How we store it: YNAB OAuth tokens (access and refresh) are stored encrypted in our database (AWS, EU region) while your account is active. We do not store a copy of your YNAB transaction history for this purpose.

How we secure it: access tokens are handled server-side only, transmitted over HTTPS, and not shared with third parties except our infrastructure provider (AWS) as required to run the service.

Retention: YNAB tokens and connection settings are kept while you have an active account or subscription. When you cancel or ask us to delete your data, we remove them.

Data we collect

We store your email address, YNAB OAuth tokens, and bank connection details necessary to sync your transactions.

How we use your data

We require read access to your bank (via GoCardless open banking) and read/write access to YNAB as described above. We do not store bank transaction data on our servers for ongoing use; transactions are read from your bank and sent to YNAB for import. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.

Data storage

All data is stored securely in AWS (EU region). Bank connections are managed through the GoCardless Bank Account Data API.

We do not store any transaction data, bank account numbers, or other sensitive financial information. Transactions are read from your bank and forwarded directly to YNAB without being persisted on our servers.

Cookies & tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions (such as sign-in), referral attribution, and — with your consent — Google Analytics to measure traffic and understand how visitors find BudgetSyncer.

Analytics cookies are optional. You can accept or decline them via the banner on your first visit. You can also clear site data in your browser to reset your choice. For more on Google's processing, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data only while you use BudgetSyncer. Upon cancellation, your data will be deleted. You may request a full export or deletion at any time by emailing admin@budgetsyncer.com.
