European bank sync for YNAB

If you live in Europe and use YNAB, automatic bank import is not guaranteed by YNAB alone. YNAB Direct Import (Plaid) covers 18 European countries but only a subset of banks in each market, and it does not cover Iceland or much of Central and Eastern Europe. BudgetSyncer fills that gap with open banking sync into the same YNAB budgets you already use.

BudgetSyncer is a YNAB-approved third-party integration — not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YNAB. You authorize YNAB with OAuth and authorize your bank through its own PSD2 consent screen.

Create a free BudgetSyncer account, connect YNAB, pick your country and bank, complete bank authorization, then map accounts to YNAB. You can map up to 4 bank accounts per institution connection. Extra bank connections each get their own mapping allowance. Subscribe when you are ready to enable syncing; new subscribers get a free trial on the website or App Store.

Transactions sync automatically on your chosen schedule (default twice per day; you can add or change sync times on the connections page). Exact local times are shown for your timezone. You can also start a manual sync anytime from BudgetSyncer. With Enable Banking there is no separate daily limit on user-triggered syncs (banks may still delay publishing transactions).

Prefer YNAB Direct Import when it already works reliably for your bank — it is built into YNAB and needs no third-party subscription. Prefer BudgetSyncer when your bank or country is missing from Direct Import, when the Direct Import connection keeps breaking, or when you want scheduled sync plus manual sync anytime with Enable Banking.

Some households use both: Direct Import on one account and BudgetSyncer on another. Each tool connects independently with your consent.

Bank credentials are not stored by BudgetSyncer. Access is read-only for transactions used to sync into YNAB. You can revoke bank consent at your bank or disconnect in BudgetSyncer anytime.
