European bank sync for YNAB

YNAB supported banks in Europe

A practical guide for European YNAB users: what YNAB Direct Import covers, where banks are missing, and how to browse 2,500+ institutions available through BudgetSyncer open banking.

Support status

Browse the full directory at /banks — pick your country to see every institution available for automatic YNAB sync.

This institution or market is commonly available via our open banking partner.

What people mean by “YNAB supported banks”

The phrase usually refers to banks YNAB can import from automatically through Direct Import. In Europe that means Plaid-backed connections in a fixed set of countries — not a single global list of every bank YNAB users might hold accounts with.

If your bank is absent from YNAB’s search, you are not alone. European YNAB users routinely fall back to CSV or OFX file imports. BudgetSyncer exists for that gap: regulated open banking where your institution is listed, with transactions imported into YNAB on a schedule.

YNAB Direct Import vs BudgetSyncer coverage

YNAB added broader European Direct Import in 2025, but coverage remains country-level — Plaid connects some banks in 18 markets, not all of them. BudgetSyncer uses GoCardless across 30+ countries, which helps when YNAB has no Direct Import in your country or when your specific bank is missing from Plaid.

Use the live directory at /banks to confirm your institution. You can create a free account, connect YNAB, and browse banks before subscribing to enable sync.

How to check your bank

Start with your country in the directory below on /banks, or open a bank-specific guide (for example Nordea, OP, ING, or N26) if you already know your institution.

After sign-up, the connection wizard shows the same bank list for your country. Map each bank account to the YNAB account you track, subscribe when you are ready, and transactions import several times per day with duplicate handling in YNAB on import.

Setup in a few minutes

  1. Create a free BudgetSyncer account and connect YNAB with OAuth.
  2. Open /banks, choose your country, and confirm your bank appears in the list.
  3. Authorize via your bank’s PSD2 flow, map accounts, and subscribe to enable scheduled sync.

FAQ

Does YNAB publish a full list of supported European banks?
YNAB shows available institutions inside the app when you add a linked account. There is no complete public directory of every supported bank by country. BudgetSyncer publishes live open-banking lists by country at /banks for European markets.
Can I use BudgetSyncer and YNAB Direct Import together?
Yes. Some users keep YNAB Direct Import on one account and BudgetSyncer on another — for example when only some of their banks appear in YNAB’s list. Each tool connects independently with your consent.
Which banks does YNAB support in Europe?
YNAB Direct Import via Plaid is available in 18 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Even in those countries, only selected banks appear in YNAB’s institution search — not every local bank.
Which YNAB supported banks does BudgetSyncer cover?
BudgetSyncer lists 2,500+ institutions across 30+ European countries via GoCardless open banking. That includes many banks missing from YNAB Direct Import, plus additional coverage in countries where YNAB has no Direct Import at all (for example Iceland, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Czechia).
