Why syncing Arion Bank to YNAB is still painful
Arion Bank is one of the most searched banks among European YNAB users in Iceland. The budgeting method works — but keeping accounts current when your bank and YNAB do not talk to each other creates weekly friction.
YNAB does not offer Direct Import in Iceland at all. If you bank with Arion Bank and use YNAB, the default workflow is still manual: log into Arion Bank, download a CSV or OFX export, upload it to YNAB, and reconcile duplicates by hand.
Even when imports work, the process is fragile: export formats change, pending transactions appear twice, and your YNAB budget is only as fresh as your last upload. If you share a budget with a partner or track multiple Arion Bank accounts, the manual work multiplies.
