European bank sync for YNAB

Is BudgetSyncer safe for YNAB? An honest security review

BudgetSyncer is a YNAB-approved third-party that uses YNAB OAuth and PSD2 bank consent — it does not store bank passwords and is not affiliated with YNAB beyond approval wording. Parent security comparison: YNAB bank sync security vs manual imports.

Support status

Read-only bank access for sync; revoke anytime.

Listed by our open banking partner; not separately verified beyond the directory listing.

What “safe enough” means here

You grant BudgetSyncer permission to import into YNAB and permission to read transactions the bank exposes after consent. You can revoke either side. Product claims and data practices are in the privacy policy.

BudgetSyncer is operated by Dawnode Oy (Finland). It does not claim to be YNAB or a bank. Prefer Direct Import when it already works if you want fewer vendors in the path.

Limitations to accept

Open banking quality varies by bank. Consent renewals interrupt sync until you reconnect. Credit card availability is bank-dependent. Any third-party sync increases surface area versus CSV-only — you trade chore for standing consent.
